SANTOS CMI successfully completes ASTORIA II
|
SANTOS CMI successfully completed the Astoria II Project, concerning the off-site assembly of 2 x heat recovery steam generators (HRSG) for the Astoria II Power Plant being built in Queens, NY, USA and owned by Astoria Power, a corporation formed by GDF Suez and SNC Lavalin.
This project represented a major challenge for our team, as the schedule required precise commitment to the delivery dates. The assembly of these 2 boilers had to be completed in time for the arrival of heavy barges, that are now transporting the units from Tampico, Mexico to Queens, NY. The HRSGs were fully assembled in this Mexican site by SANTOS CMI, incorporating local and foreign personnel for specialized alloy pipe welding and mechanical erection of all boiler components, electrical works and instruments installation. Our operational capabilities were again proved during the successful rigging activities and the quality of our work certified when we finally applied the ASME "S" stamps to the boilers.
The HRSG will be set on their foundations, behind 2 x GE 7FA gas turbines in this combined cycle 500 MW power plant expansion. Astoria I features the same configuration. Total plant output will be 1,000 MW.
