OPENING OF KALLPA III WITH THE PRESENCE OF ALAN GARCÍA - PERÚ

Kallpa Generación opened today Kallpa IIII, the third natural gas thermoelectric central of 196 MW in Chilca, district in the South of Lima. The event also framed the ceremony of the first stone of the future Combined Cycle plant with the presence of President Alan García. This new plant brings 14 percent of the demand of the system interconnected national (SEIN), consolidating its leadership as the main generator of gas fueled energy of Peru.

 

Kallpa III construction took an investment of nearly $ 100 million, and was made in a period of 18 months. The Combined Cycle plant will enter into operation in September 2012, Kallpa became the largest of Peru with a capacity of 850 Mw, which includes the conversion of three turbines (Kallpa I, II and III), through the construction of a 280 Mw steam turbine, which will not use additional gas.

 

SANTOS CMI is in charge of the construction of the plant expansion, which includes complete civil and electromechanical works for the Balance of Plant of the Combined Cycle Conversion. The existing facility features 3 x Siemens gas turbines. Scope includes earthworks, concrete foundations, steel structures and buildings, 300 MW steam turbine and BOP equipment and tanks installation, piping pre fabrication and erection, MV and LV cabling and wiring, instrumentation and controls.
